Top Thrill Dragster Review

Cedar Point have always tried to push the boundaries of rollercoaster technology and Top Thrill Dragster was no exception.

As you pull into the car park and see this amazing coaster towering over evertthing around it you realise your going to get one of the biggest adrenaline rushes of your life!

Although not amazingly themed its simple but effective and builds up the tension as another drag style train shoots over your head and climbs the 420ft tower, nothing compares to it, the noise, the visual the sound of people screaming for their lives as it comes almost to a hault as it creeps over the top hat to once again come plummeting back down to earth in a whirl of screams.

Once upon the platform you are greated by a Cedar Point employee hooked up to a wireless mic, realing off as many frightening facts as possible to get your tension running in your “Race for the Sky.”

Unknowing of what 120mph feels like, you board the open trains and pull down on your lap bar, that’s right, a lap bar and a seatbelt. The adrenaline begins to pump as they shout “Enjoy your race for the sky, on Top Thrill Dragster!” as you coast out of the station and onto the launch platform.

You sit and stare at the 420ft structure wondering if it’s real and then the hissing and groaning begins, you move backwards slightly, the break fins lower and the christmas tree lights begin to change. 17 seconds of blur, from launch to breaks that’s all you get but it’s some of the best 17 seconds I’ve ever had. The launch is amazing, the climb is amazing, the view is amazing, the drop is immense, everything about this coaster stimulates the senses. Then you hit the breaks and you have no clue what just happened as you peal your head from its rest and flatten your wind swept hair, a truly exhilarating experience, although people moan about its ride length no one can take the thrill of it away!
