Visitor Numbers Down at Lightwater Valley

Cold and snowy weather saw visitor numbers fall at major tourist attractions over the Easter holiday weekend. People decided to stay at home with their Easter eggs rather than venture out into the unseasonably chilly weather, which came as a sharp contrast to last year’s sunny Easter holiday.
At Lightwater Valley, visitor figures were down 50 per cent on last year.
A spokesman for the theme park explained:“Visitor numbers over the weekend have been considerably affected by unseasonal weather and one of the earliest Easters on record.”
Mark Bainbridge, general manager, added: “Easter has been particularly challenging this year.”
“Although we have seen a downturn in visitor numbers, those who have ventured out have had a great time at the park because they’ve been able to enjoy all our rides and attractions without having to queue.”
“We are trying to keep optimistic and hope to make up some of the deficit over the next few weeks as we are open daily from now until April 20 because school Easter holidays this year are different depending on which region you come from.”
Lightwater Valley weren’t the only park to suffer either. Numbers were down across the whole country. Let’s hope the weather improves and visitor numbers increase throughout the rest of the season.
